When we pump the water from one of our Town’s two wells, the water travels through raw (untreated) water transmission lines to a treatment plant located at 1121 Ridge Road.
To keep our infrastructure in the best condition, upgrades are scheduled for one of our raw water transmission lines. Construction for this project is scheduled to begin on September 8, 2026.
Contractors will be working on the north side of Main Street between Westwood Avenue and Chestnut Avenue and on the south side of Main Street between Westwood Avenue and Wickwire Avenue.
Traffic will be impacted for two weeks on Main Street before moving to Westwood for two weeks.
The project is expected to take approximately 60 days from the start of excavation.
Traffic Management
Traffic control measures will be in place throughout the construction period.
Two lanes of traffic will be maintained where possible.
Temporary reductions in lane width, sidewalk space, and the use of flaggers/traffic control persons may be required in active work areas.
The contractor has been directed to prioritize the movement of buses, school transportation, and emergency vehicles at all times.
Impact to homes and businesses
This project may impact driveway access for homes and businesses in the construction zone. Town staff and contractors will communicate important details directly as more information is available.
Working Hours
Construction activities will generally occur between 7:00 am and 7:00pm.
We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during this important infrastructure project. Further updates will be provided as work progresses.
